At CWS 4×4 we understand the need for quality when it comes to servicing your vehicle, such as when we provide our Land Rover Discovery parts or gearboxes; we only ever use the best. As part of our commitment to providing only the best service, we think it’s important to offer useful information to help our customers experience the best from their vehicle when out enjoying the 4×4 where they’re at their best.
As such, we recently offered part 1 and part 2 blogs to provide you with some advice as to which items you should make sure you have with you when out on your travels, to ensure you don’t get into any bother. We thought we’d offer some further wisdom to ensure you don’t get caught out when taking your 4×4 for a spin off-road.
Element Ramps
We’ve all heard the old trick of putting a floor mat under a wheel and slamming on the accelerator but the truth is, it doesn’t work perfectly, particularly if you are genuinely stuck in quite a tricky and sticky patch of mud. If you’re going to go off-road alone, always make sure you have a set of these on you; if you’re travelling with someone else, always make sure you have a set of these on you… essentially, always make… you know where we’re going with this. These useful tools allow for grip that would otherwise be impossible in mud, snow or sand, so grab yourself a set!
Air Compressor
Have you ever heard of a tyre deflating? Well, obviously… Therefore, an air compressor is essential to enable you to make the transition from off-road superstar to regular Joe on the road. The prices of these things vary pretty wildly but they are more than just a handy device to have on you, they can mean the difference between you being completely stuck and enabling you to get from A to B; equally you can do your 4×4 real damage if you decide to return to the road with deflated tyres.
Deflator
Now, most of you are probably aware of these things, but without justifying their existence many people may think they are maybe a bit of a silly invention; well, not us. When you need to venture across rocks or even deeper sand, it can be wise to remove a bit of air from your tyres so as to increase your vehicle’s traction across the surface. It can sometimes be something of an unnecessarily lengthy process to let down the tyres without a deflator, but these handy tools just fit right into the valve and allow you to take accurate and quick measurements. Not only that, they are fairly compact and can be kept in your glovebox.
You can be the greatest driver in the world, but you’ll never know when you need any of these three tools, so don’t take the risk. You’ll rue the day you didn’t buy them when you need them! If that moment has gone and your 4×4 needs a little love from a team of 4×4 specialists, then get in touch with CWS! We’re always eager to get your vehicle back up to scratch so that it can be enjoyed over and over again; so contact our friendly team on 01458 834930!
