Last week saw the 20th anniversary of the Land Rover Discovery, a vehicle that is dear to our hearts here at CWS. Although it was originally designed to combine the rugged and practical utility of the original Land Rover with the luxury of the Range Rover, the Discovery has become one of the most versatile vehicles in automotive history. The design of the vehicle has made it suitable for a whole host of applications and it is not uncommon to see them being used for everything from law enforcement to a tow car. However, the Discovery is well known as a pretty, luxurious vehicle and has earned itself a bit of a reputation for being something of a status symbol.
It’s not just a reputation for luxury that has made the Land Rover Discovery an iconic vehicle the world over, it also has a reputation for innovative design. The Discovery has the lead the way in many fields by incorporating unique design features that have become the standard for so many other vehicles. For example, 1998 saw the inclusion of twin airbags in a Land Rover Discovery, a pioneering advance in occupant safety that has become a standard feature of so many other vehicles since then.
The 20th anniversary of the Discovery is of great interest to us here at CWS as we have been providing our customers with salvaged Land Rover spare parts for many years now, and we’ve seen firsthand the various changes and developments that have been made to the vehicle over the years. We’re pleased that the Discovery brand is still going strong 20 years on in 2009 as the Discovery 4 hits the market, and we’re sure that these iconic vehicles will continue to be produced in one form or another for many more years to come!
